History Happy Hour

History Happy Hour: the 4th HHH is October 17!  

For museum members only. Reservations are Required and will open early September.  Check back here for instructions to reserve your spot. –Maximum number of attendees is 50.

Enjoy a trip to the country! The former Lamar home on H Highway- and now the beautifully renovated home of Missy and Blake Green-  is the site of the museum’s 2026 autumn History Happy Hour.  The popular biannual HHH offers a chance to visit with other museum members and learn the history of a local home while enjoying a plentiful charcuterie board, wine, beer and non alcoholic beverages.  There is no charge.

Not a museum member?  Join on this website for as little as 20.00 for individuals.

The Missy and Blake Green home on H Highway is an example of the Carpenter Gothic Style, popular in wooden homes from the 1840s through the 1880s. One of the most famous homes in this style is featured in the 1930 painting by Grant Wood, “American Gothic”. The house in the background of the Grant Wood oil painting is a real cottage built in the Carpenter Gothic architectural style in Eldon, Iowa.
