Sherry Dicus, “History Through Quilts” (BAAC)

May 31 @ 12:30 pm2:00 pm

Sherry Dicus brings more than 35 years of passion and experience to the art of quilting. Her work has been showcased in diverse community settings, including the Johnson County Museum, local schools, nursing homes, United Women’s annual teas, and Martin Luther King Jr. programs. She is also featured in Barbara Brackman’s book “Butternut and Blue”, where one of her quilts is highlighted.

A resident of Johnson County, Sherry currently serves as president of the Mo-Kan Heart Quilt Guild in Kansas City, Missouri, where she continues to inspire and connect with fellow quilting enthusiasts. Her program will interest anyone who has ever admired a quilt or is a quilter and fabric artist-to appreciate the techniques, methods, and styles of that art form.

Sherry’s presentation takes place before the 6th Annual Juneteenth Heritage Jubilee, “Common Threads: The Tapestry of Community” on June 13.  The 2026 Juneteenth celebration uses quilting as a powerful metaphor and Sherry’s program sets the stage for this year’s Juneteenth Event. Reservations are not required for Sherry’s program at the Weston United Methodist Church, 533 Main St., Weston, Mo.–enter at the lower level next to the park fountain.
